Why Gym G5?

We love our 220 square metre railway arch in the New Gorbals area of Glasgow City. In our 7th year of operation we are an Independent Functional Cross-training Gym that uses principles of strength and conditioning, with everyday 'functional' movement patterns and high intensity programming to make our members Healthier, Fitter, Stronger & Leaner. Although we are NOT an affiliate, we train in a similar style and some of our athletes choose to compete in both Individual, Pairs & Team competitions, as well as Olympic Lifting, 10km/13.1m and 26.2m races, triathlons and outdoor obstacle course events..

Our Memberships are based on group Coach led sessions (often referred to as WODs, as in workout of the day) which are programmed over a 5 day cycle. Sometimes they are longer, sometimes shorter. Sometimes we program strength specific sessions with heavier weights & Oly lifting technique, sometimes cardio conditioning - referred to as Metcon, sometimes its body weight. Like the demands of every day life, you never know what to expect. Training Sessions follow a programme, including strength, conditioning and gymnastics, inclusive to all levels of fitness and always challenging. Good movement quality & standards are paramount to what we do. We help you to move better, and as a result feel better. Inside the arch, your safety and improved health is our first priority. Regardless of the time of day you train or the class you choose to join, you'll be excited, engaged and always having fun.
Health & WellbeingHealth is our first priority. We believe that movement is life, using every day movement patterns in the way the body was designed to move, to help you improve your overall health & wellbeing and make you feel, look and are better able to approach each day that life demands.

We use varying training modalities to challenge and progress you, at whatever fitness level you're at. You might work as an individual, with a partner or as part of a Team. Our workouts are either timed or we count reps (total number of movements completed). Sometimes the exercises in a WOD (Workout of the Day) are completed in the best time possible (Best Effort For Time known as BEFT), helping you to build a higher level of fitness, so you can see yourself progress over time. We feel that you should be accountable to see progress and identify Weakness as well as strengths.
Quality first.Form before load. Quality first. Some of the movements, especially those performed with a Barbell or on the rig are technical & complex, and every workout will certainly challenge you in a number of ways. That's why safety is always the first priority. The workouts are scalable, so irrelevant of your experience or level of fitness, you are guaranteed to get a challenging workout, that is within your capability.

We are adjacent to the Premier Inn Hotel, situated in a Railway Arch between the City Mosque and the City of Glasgow College, across from the Gorbals Co-operative and behind the Citizens Theatre.
FREE Parking: We have 3 dedicated spaces in the carpark (marked 28, 29 & 30). Alternatively you can park over at the Co-op for a small charge, or directly in front of our shutter if theres space! Look Good, Feel Good: Our facility has 2 toilets, changing facilities, a shower (currently out of use ) and an area to blow dry your hair & do your makeup!
